How to set up two-factor authentication

🦉 Security ✓ Privacy ✓ Two-factor authentication ✓ 2FA ✓ Admins ✓ Authenticator app ✓ Browser extension

Any admin can set up two-factor authentication (2FA) for their account. In this article, we’ll explain how to enable this feature and its benefits.

There are different ways to set up 2FA. We will outline them below.

With an authenticator app (on your mobile phone)

  1. Log in to Easy LMS, then click on your avatar in the bottom left corner of your screen, and go to your Profile page.

  2. Click Enable in the Security section.

  3. Open your preferred authenticator app on your mobile phone.

  4. Scan the QR code displayed on screen (with your phone) or manually enter the key provided.

  5. Enter the Verification code from your authenticator app.

  6. Click Complete setup.

With an authenticator extension (in your web browser)

  1. Log in to Easy LMS, then click on your avatar in the bottom left corner of your screen, and go to your Profile page.

  2. Click Enable in the Security section.

  3. Open your preferred authenticator extension in your web browser. We recommend Authenticator, GAuth Authenticator, or Open-Two-Factor Authenticator (Open TFA).

  4. Scan the QR code displayed on screen (use your mouse to click and drag to draw a square that covers the QR code) or manually enter the key provided.

  5. Enter the Verification code from your authenticator extension.

  6. Click Complete setup.

You don’t need a second device to set up 2FA via a browser extension.

Each admin must set up 2FA themselves. This feature cannot be enforced by another admin.

You can also disable 2FA on your Profile page. Simply click Disable and enter the Verification code from your authenticator app.

Benefits of 2FA

Two-factor authentication significantly improves your account’s security by adding an extra layer of protection in addition to a password. It helps you:

  • Prevent unauthorized access to your account.

  • Protect sensitive training content and participant data.

  • Meet internal and external security requirements.

  • Reduce the risk of account takeovers.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot access your authenticator app or extension, or have lost your mobile phone, you will need to reset 2FA:

  1. Go to the login page and enter your Email address and Password.

  2. Click Reset two-factor authentication.

  3. Follow the instructions in the email you were sent.
